The Avon Park Tax-Aide site offers free tax preparation help to anyone who needs it - with special attention to those who are 50 or older or have low to moderate income. You do not need to be an AARP member.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers are trained to assist you in filing many income tax forms and schedules. However, the Volunteer Protection Act requires that our volunteers stay within the scope of tax law set by the IRS for the program. In certain situations, our volunteers may be unable to provide assistance. (See the
Taxpayers link at the top for more information.)

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, the nation's largest free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation program, started in 1968 with just four volunteers at one site. Today, nearly 35,000 volunteers in all 50 states and the District of Columbia serve approximately 5,000 Tax-Aide sites from February 1 to mid-April. Over 68 millions taxpayers have been helped since the program launched.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers are trained and IRS-certified each year to ensure they know about and understand the latest changes and additions to the U.S. Tax Code.

In 2018, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers helped 2.5 million people navigate complicated tax codes, ensure proper credits and deductions and file their federal and state tax returns. Taxpayers who used AARP Foundation Tax-Aide in 2018 saved a total of over $300 million in tax preparation fees.
